Sarah May is the artistic name of Vancouver-based pop singer Sarah May-Shogan. Sarah entwines dark-based themes into her pop/alt music, inspired by the sounds of rain falling on water, waves at her head, and overcast days at sea.

It’s my childhood dream. My parents are also incredibly supportive of my creative pursuits.

I’m an independent artist
What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
I have a hearing condition that I’ve been living with for a very long time but was only recently been diagnosed with. This and helping my family with finances instead of going to school have been my biggest set backs.
How many songs or albums have you released to date?
To the time I’m writing this for you, I’ve released 3 songs. I’ll have my newest single coming out May 1st though.
Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
My latest release was “Universal” and was inspired by the sanctuary my parents own and operate. It’s a story told from a pigs perspective as it’s sent to slaughter.
Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
As I said May 1st will be my next single coming out “Before I Go”, after that I’m hoping to get a few more singles out and I’m currently working on my first full length studio album.
