This Chaotic Shop’, the debut single from Cities In Dust (formerly The Ady Baker Sound) launches on 5th March, released by Musical Bear ‘Records’
‘‘This Chaotic Shop’ is a down and dirty prowling track that snaps at the heels of Primal Scream and Janes Addiction.
A rolling bass line, swirling synths and a languid swaggering vocal delivered with menace by lead singer Ady Baker add vivid shades to Pop’s pale palette, which typifies the band’s diverse sound.
This Chaotic Shop is an injection of venom. It’s been nearly a year since their last release, and they’ve found it tough not being able to bottle the lightning of playing together in a room. Forced into recording independently this gave added cognitive dissonance to This Chaotic Shop’s sound. This edge dovetails with the name change to create a statement about their outlook and where they are right now as artists.”
Ady Baker (Vocals), Jim Dorney (Bass), Mark Summers (Guitar) and Leo Brown (Drums) have been playing together for three years under the moniker ‘The Ady Baker Sound’ and have shared the same bills as Idles, Field Music, Willie J Healey and Rozi Plain amongst others, and supported Steve Mason on his solo tour. They released numerous singles and an EP on Musical Bear ‘Records’ and have had their music produced by John Mitchell who has also produced albums for Enter Shikari.
With diverse musical tastes that create a sound dubbed “Lysergic groove rock” by Nightshift Magazine. Cities In Dust are a band fuelled by 60’s Mod, 70’s Post Punk, 80’s Goth, 90’s Hip Hop and World Music influences that shouldn’t work together, yet “is like baking a cake in your ear holes”.
