My name is Melanie and I am the lead singer/bandleader of Diana Is Calling, a funk/pop fusion band I started with my fellow colleagues from The University of The Arts in Philadelpia.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I have always wanted to be a musician. I have been performing since I was a kid but I watched my parents struggle with my dad being in the arts and I was too afraid to go for it until I really struggled with my mental health in college and realized life is too short to not go for what you want.

The Fugees, the Beatles, Billy Joel, jazz artists

What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
Financial support and having to quit jobs to dedicate more time and the pandemic lol

Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
It was a song I wrote about getting out of relationships that are extremely toxic. My newest single is about struggling with mental health; loving someone else so much but not being able to love yourself
