Born and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland, JL Beatz is a 21-year old producer who takes music production very seriously. When he first started producing music in 2016, he did not have access to a laptop and was forced to make beats on his smartphone until he was able to access a laptop. In 2017, JL Beatz executively produced his first EP by DMV artist, ACE. It was a huge milestone for the producer and he finally felt like he got his foot in the door. As time went on, JL Beatz found a great amount of success as a producer. He has produced multiple songs for DMV artist and Roc Nation’s very own, Q Da Fool. JL Beatz has also worked with other DMV artists like Goonew, Trapsquad Gang, ShugDaTrappa and many more. JL Beatz has also worked with Kansas City Chiefs running back, Le’Veon Bell. Although JL Beatz has gained quite a bit of success, he’s very far from being satisfied when it comes to the goals he has set for himself in music production. He wants to produce music for major hip hop artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Gunna, NBA YoungBoy and many more. Aside from producing, JL Beatz is also an artist and has multiple singles on all platforms.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I used to listen to a lot of music as a kid. I was always amazed by how beats were made and I decided to start making them.

As a producer, biggest influences for me are producers like CashMoneyAP, Zaytoven and Earl On The Beat.

What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
The biggest challenge for me was accepting the fact that there will be plenty of trial and error. Every beat you make is not going to be the best one. Some days you feel better than others, but my passion for music is why I keep producing.

My latest release “Ace of Spades” is a 12-song project executively produced by me featuring DMV artists like Q Da Fool, Young Glide and many more. It’s put up some great numbers within its first week of its debut, but my hopes are to multiply those numbers.
Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
I do want to release another project, but that isn’t my main focus right now. I want to become better at producing and I plan on dropping a couple of singles within the next year.
