PTM is a Songwriter, Singer & Rapper with German roots who’s combining HipHop – almost playfully – with elements from all other Genres. Especially his Live Shows & Performances stand out the most in which he doesn’t hesitate to let his soul speak and take his audience very close into his world.. for a little PeaceToMankind.
Where are you based?
I’m currently based in Hamburg, Germany. I been living there for more than three years now..
How long have you been making music?
I’ve been making music ever since I started playing violin at 5 years old, later adding keyboard / piano to the mix. I stopped actively playing both instruments tho after I hit puberty and my interests went a different direction. At about 15/16 I rediscovered my love for making music but more so for writing songs and lyrics myself. Ever since there hasn’t been a month where I haven’t wrote new songs, verses, poems or else.
What genre would you consider your music to be?
I cannot answer that question, haha.. for real! It is HipHop / Rap music for sure but the music itself, the instrumentals and how I got at them is really diverse.. My song “Heaven Above” is strongly influenced by jazz music and instruments wheras my song “Pay Bills & Then Die” is almost a HardRock/Metal song.. I been doing more “classical” rap music recently but you never know what to expect when I drop a new song, can’t put me in a box and that’s exactly how I want it to be!
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I can actually answer that question pretty quick: I figured I am doing it anyway so why not give it a proper try, haha.. After recording at a studio in Hamburg City for the first time in 2017 the owner – who was a talent scout for Universal Music Germany at the time – gave me free codes for their digital distributotion, telling me to give it a shot and release the song we recorded that day, ever since then I just grew into it..
What are your biggest musical influences?
Damn.. that’s a tough one.. I feel like every single piece of music I ever heard in my entire life was and is influencing me but talking about my biggest I’d have to go with Dr. Dre (from NWA to Eminem, 50 Cent, ..all the way down to Kendrick), J. Cole, Russ.. too many to count probably haha, I am a Rap fiend!
Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
I am one hundred percent independent, I have no label, manager, booking agent, nothing.. I have been doing rather well but I really wanna get a booking agent so I can play more shows, more frequently.. I did about 30 by now and I love being on stage performing my music, working the crowd and everything else that comes with it!
What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
Corona definitely fucked up ALL my shows & concerts for 2020, that was a tough one.. other than that I guess it was quite difficult to get the world to actually listen to my music with so many people making music these days.. It took me more than three years before my Spotify took off.. another thing was for sure not making the typa music that’s currently popping or “mainstream”.. but I take pride in making timeless music (Heaven Above, Better Days, etc.) especially when I’m bending the boundaries of rap music and mix several genres..
How many songs or albums have you released to date?
Hmm, lemme count, haha.. I released one album in 2019 called “Cock Back & SHOOT” and about 25 singles up until now.. it’s about time for a new album tho and I’m not talking about my Live Album that’s to be released in November 2021..
Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
My latest release is “Making Shit Happen” and I wrote it at the producers place where I was just supposed to sign the license agreement after coming from my main go to studio and finishing another song there, haha.. you know how that goes: it was supposed to be just for the signatures but might as well show me some new beats and BOOM.. I’m listening to the first couple of seconds of the 5th beat they play for me and my mind right away starts spitting.. so I had to wrap it up right there, took me about 40min to finish the lyrics.. it is a song about me starting out with nothing but ideas and a dream and now I grew into this Rapper with more than 1.000.000 streams on Spotify, doing shows, etc. .. basically it’s about how I wasn’t crazy and delusional when I started this journey and I’m really in a position now where I’m grinding my ass off to get to where I want to be with this music shit..
Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
Fuck yeah, I got my first Live Album ready to drop next month and I’m working on a plan to make the iTunes charts after already making number one on Amazon.. it was my first 30min on stage after almost a one year break due to the pandemic and even tho it was a streaming concert and (almost) nobody was there but the camerateam, etc. I consider it to be one of my best performances to this date.. just how I’m transitioning, connecting the songs & creating a coherent story until the very end.. I did a couple “real” (with live audience) shows ever since this digital show in June 21 and I have included this stage show completely, partly or modified in every single one that followed but y’all gon have to hear and see for yourself, haha.. I’m dropping the audio on DSPs and the visuals on YouTube!
