KALEVI
With influences from indie pop and traditional rock, Jukka Sarja creates with his alter ego, the band KALEVI, their own kind of subtle and cross-border soundscape. A sound with twangy guitars and low-pitched vocals. The lyrics in English can e.g. be about happiness or difficulties in relationships, about loss and longing, love or joy of life.
“Tears” is about the ambivalence in the feelings of breaking a relationship.
KALEVI is the Finnish middle name of the singer and songwriter Jukka Sarja. Or a hero in a famous Finnish epic from the 6th century. Kalevi alludes to the Finnish roots in the band.
An EP “Kalevi” with five songs and single “Black rain” was released in 2020. Produced by Joakim Näslund.
LP “Kalevi 1” containing ten songs and single “Tears” was released in 2021. Produced by Mikael “The person” Norstedt.
KALEVI is from Södertälje. The band consists of: Jukka Sarja, guitar and vocals, Nils Löfstedt, guitar, Kent Näslund, Bas and Tony Persson, drums.
