Genre: Retro Nūvō
SōMuch fuse the classic vibe of 70s and 80s disco music with modern production, bringing their”retro nūvō”sound to the dancefloors. Infectious Chic-esque guitar lines, funky grooves and epic vocal hooks are the ingredients that create this new kind of disco music that will keep you on your feet all night long!
In November 2017, Roby came across an Instagram ad for one-to-one drum lessons with none other than Ralph Rolle, the drummer for Nile Rodgers and Chic. It was the perfect Christmas gift for Francesco, the band’s drummer. On the 7th of December 2017, the pair flew to Manchester, England. They met Ralph and became friends, eventually showing him one of their band’s demos a couple of years later. Ralph was thrilled by what he heard and asked if he could fly over to Italy to produce the song.
The guys got into the studio in early 2020 to start working on their EP. Ralph’s valuable production input helped shaping their”retro nūvō”sound and the first two singles were completed just as the 2020 global pandemic hit. Various lockdowns later, Ralph could finally return to Italy to finish producing the EP, which was then sent off to New York City to be mixed and mastered.
The band’s debut single “Studio 54” was released in November and was premiered by Chris Hawkins on BBC Radio 6 and has already featured on Craig Charles’ BBC Radio 2 show and several other stations around the globe. It’s a dance floor filler that brings listeners back to the iconic New York nightclub.
SōMuch’s mission is simple: to make music that spreads love and happiness to the world. They are set to release a new single in early 2022, followed by the full 5-track EP in the Spring.
